Turn a To-Do List or Weekly Plan into Calendar Events with Text2Event
Published: October 14, 2026
The List That Had No Dates
Teams plan in weekdays, not dates. A weekly to-do list says "Monday – planning, Tuesday – scripts, Wednesday – filming", and that's all. There is no date and no time, and that is exactly the kind of text Text2Event used to reject, because it had no single moment to turn into an event. Now it handles it.
What You Get Now
Paste a plan grouped by weekday and Text2Event creates one all-day event per day, on the right date, with the day's heading as the title. The text you pasted is saved in the event description, so every task is still there when you open the event.
| You paste | You get |
|---|---|
| "Monday — Planning & property research…" followed by tasks | All-day event "Monday – Planning & property research" |
| "Tuesday — Scripts & preparation…" followed by tasks | All-day event "Tuesday – Scripts & preparation" |
| "Wednesday — Filming…" followed by tasks | All-day event "Wednesday – Filming" |
| A plain list: "Call the plumber, buy printer paper, renew the parking permit" | One all-day event for today that holds the whole list |
Why All-Day Events
There is no honest time to put on "Wednesday – Filming" unless you say one. Guessing 9:00 would clutter your day with an event that looks precise but isn't. An all-day event sits at the top of the day in Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar, which is where a daily checklist belongs. If you do want a time, just include it in your text, as in "Wednesday 10am filming".
Which Week Do the Days Land In?
Text2Event uses the next occurrence of each weekday and keeps the plan together in one week. If you paste a Monday-to-Wednesday plan on a Wednesday, all three events go to the following week, in order, rather than splitting the plan with Wednesday today and Monday next week. Always glance at the dates on the result, and if you meant a different week, add it to your text, for example "next week".
What This Is Not (Yet)
Calendars have no checkboxes, so you can't tick off tasks inside the event. This is a way to put your weekly plan on the calendar where you'll see it, not a task manager.
Apple Reminders and Google Tasks
Many of you keep to-dos in Apple Reminders or Google Tasks, and a direct integration would be the natural next step. Today we create calendar events instead, because those apps can't import a file the way calendars can, and every calendar app can import events. Connecting to them would take real integration work, so we want to know it's worth it first. If you'd like Text2Event to send tasks to Apple Reminders or Google Tasks, let us know through the feedback form or the contact form, and tell us which app you use. It directly decides what we build next.

To-Do List to Calendar FAQs
- Q: Can Text2Event create calendar events from a to-do list?
- A: Yes. If your list is grouped by weekday, each weekday becomes an all-day event on the next matching date. If it is a plain list with no days or dates at all, you get a single all-day event for today that holds the whole list.
- Q: Which dates does it pick for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday?
- A: The upcoming occurrence of each weekday, kept together in one week. For example, if you paste a Monday to Wednesday plan on a Wednesday, the events land on the Monday to Wednesday of the following week so the plan stays in order. Check the date on the result and adjust it if you meant a different week.
- Q: Why are the events all-day events?
- A: Lists like this rarely contain times, and inventing a time would be a guess. An all-day event sits at the top of the day in Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar, which is where a daily checklist belongs. If you do want a specific time, include it in your text.
- Q: Do my tasks end up in the event?
- A: Yes. The text you pasted is saved in the event description, so every task stays readable when you open the event. Calendars don't have checkboxes, so you can't tick items off there.
- Q: Does this create tasks in Apple Reminders or Google Tasks?
- A: Not yet. Text2Event creates calendar events, which every calendar app can import. If you want a direct integration with Apple Reminders or Google Tasks, tell us through the feedback or contact form and say which app you use. Your requests decide what we build next.
- Q: Is creating several events from one list a Pro feature?
- A: Creating multiple events from a single query is part of Text2Event Pro. On the free plan you get one event per query.
