Best Apps to Create Calendar Events from Text, Photos and Voice (2026)
Published: November 6, 2026
The short answer
There is no single winner, so pick by the device and the calendar you use. Smart Calendars AI is the broadest tool if you live in Apple's ecosystem. Agenda Hero is an all-platform option, with apps for iOS and Android, a Chrome extension and a web dashboard, and Text2Cal is a simpler iPhone app. Text2Event is the one to choose if you use Android, Gmail or Chrome, or want an iPhone Shortcut instead of an app: it reads "remind me 1 hour before" and a guest from the sentence, which the other tools we could test (Text-2-ICS, text-to-cal and Agenda Hero) did not. Cheap Chrome extensions such as text-to-cal are enough for selected text, but they stop at a pre-filled calendar page.
What to compare
- Source: typed or selected text, a photo or screenshot, a PDF, a voice note, an email.
- How the event is added: a pre-filled calendar page (a deeplink), an
.icsfile, a subscribed feed, or a direct connection to your calendar. - What survives: the time zone, a location, a reminder, a guest. This is where the tools differ most.
- Where it runs: iPhone, Android, Chrome, the web.
- Friction before the first event: whether you need an account, an install or calendar permissions first, and whether you can set a default behaviour.
- Price: the free allowance and what you pay after it.
The same sentence in every tool
Where a tool had a free web page or extension, we typed one sentence into it on 2026-11-06:
Lunch with Alice (alice@example.com) next Tuesday at 12:30 for 1 hour at Cafe Roma, remind me 1 hour before
Text-2-ICS, text-to-cal and Agenda Hero all got the title, the day, the time and the place right. None added Alice as a guest, and none set the reminder. The email address stayed in the description. For Text-2-ICS and text-to-cal that follows from how they hand the event over: both open a calendar's "new event" link, and that link carries the title, the dates, the description, the location and the time zone, not a reminder. Agenda Hero's downloaded .ics file has no alarm and no attendee either, and it adds an advertising line with a link to the event description. The Chrome extension "Text to Calendar - AI Event Scheduler" works differently. It asks you to link your Google or Outlook account and allow it to view and edit your calendar events. On our test sentence it returned a server error, which may have been temporary. We could not test the iPhone apps in the same way, so for Smart Calendars AI and Text2Cal we read what each one says on its own page.
How much friction before the first event
An event app is only useful if you can try it quickly, so we also compared what each one asks for before the first event.
- Text2Event: the web page, the Chrome extension and the Gmail add-on create an event from text without an account. The Android app requires signing in. Photos, PDFs and voice need an account and Pro. Settings let you choose a default calendar and save attendee aliases.
- Agenda Hero: the web dashboard needs an account. Its Google connection asks to see all your calendars and events. We found no setting for a default behaviour in its Chrome extension.
- Text-2-ICS: three free events with no sign-in, then you sign in for more. The reminder and the calendar are picked by hand for each event.
- Text to Calendar (Chrome extension): before the first event it asks you to link your Google or Outlook account and allow it to view and edit your calendar events.
- text-to-cal: install the extension and select text; because it opens a calendar link, nothing needs connecting. We did not find whether it asks for an account.
- Smart Calendars AI: its pricing page says the free calendar trial starts after card verification. We did not find whether the app or web app needs an account for the first event.
- Text2Cal: its site says "Zero Setup, No Integration Required". We did not test it.
Smart Calendars AI
An AI calendar assistant and event-capture app, built mostly around Apple devices, that also publishes calendar feeds. The broadest of the group.
- Website: smartcalendars.ai
- Platforms: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, a web app, and Chrome and Raycast extensions. It also works through WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack, and connects to ChatGPT, Claude and Codex over MCP.
- Inputs: voice, typed or pasted text, photos and screenshots, PDFs, spreadsheets, Word files, forwarded emails, chat messages and business cards.
- How events are added: items are saved to your Apple, Google or Outlook calendar after you review them. Published feeds are subscribed
.icslinks that calendar apps refresh on their own schedule, and subscribers cannot edit them. - Reminders, guests, recurring: alerts and persistent alarms (these need iOS or iPadOS 26), guests and invitations, and recurring events.
- More than events: an AI assistant you can ask to create and change events, public Calendar Pages and website embeds, booking links, automatic categories, an optional morning summary email, and trip planning from saved social posts.
- Price: a free plan with two Assistant requests a month, a one-time pack of five credits for $3.99, Plus at $6.99 a month, Pro at $19.99 a month, Business at $49.99 a month and Publisher from $99 a month.
- Worth knowing: several features are tied to Apple software, and its pricing page says the free calendar trial starts after card verification. We did not test it.
Text2Cal
A simple iPhone and Mac app for turning text and photos into events, with a business card scanner.
- Website: text2cal.app
- Platforms: iPhone and Mac. Its site shows a Google Play badge, but we could not confirm an Android app.
- Inputs: text, photos of flyers, posters, tickets and class schedules, content shared from other apps, and business cards.
- How events are added: it works with Google, Apple and Outlook calendars; its site does not say how events reach them.
- Reminders, guests, recurring: custom reminders on the paid plans. Guests and recurring events are not mentioned.
- More than events: a business card scanner that saves a contact and schedules a follow-up meeting, and nine app languages.
- Price: a free plan with five extractions a month. Its site lists Pro at $3.99 a month, $29.99 a year or $59.99 once.
- Worth knowing: we did not test it.
Agenda Hero
An event app that also works as a shared calendar service, with collaborators, public sharing and plans for families and organizations.
- Website: agendahero.com
- Platforms: iOS and Android apps, a Chrome extension and a web dashboard that needs an account.
- Inputs: text, photos and PDFs, and voice according to its home page. Its pricing page does not mention voice.
- How events are added: after an event is created you can connect your Google account (it asks to see all your calendars and events), use a link to your calendar, or download an
.icsfile. - Reminders, guests, recurring: its site claims all three. The
.icswe downloaded for the Alice sentence had no reminder, no guest, and an advertising line with a link in the description. - Chrome extension: it opens a side panel and lets you draw an area of the page to capture as a screenshot. There is no setting for a default behaviour.
- More than events: shared calendars with co-editors and several views, sources and feeds, AI edits by chat, public sharing, a Family plan with a shared space and text reminders to family members (US only), and Organizations with branded links.
- Price: a free plan with unlimited text conversions and 10 photo or PDF uploads, Plus at $5 a month, Family at $10 a month and Organizations at $20 a month.
- Worth knowing: we tested only the downloaded file. We did not test the Google connection, the apps or the extension's output.
text-to-cal (Chrome)
A single-purpose pair of Chrome extensions that turn selected or typed text into a calendar page.
- Website: text-to-cal.com
- Platforms: Chrome, with one extension for Google Calendar and one for Outlook.
- Inputs: typed or selected text only, so a photo or a voice note is out of scope.
- How events are added: it opens a pre-filled event page (a link), so nothing is connected and a reminder or guest stays in the description.
- Reminders, guests, recurring: its site says it creates multiple and recurring events; the reminder and the guest were not set in our test.
- Price: five events free, then $2.99 a year or $6.99 once, with a 14-day refund.
Text-2-ICS (web)
A web tool that converts text, images, PDFs and spreadsheets into .ics files, with a set of free calendar-file utilities.
- Website: text-2-ics.com
- Platforms: the web, and a Chrome extension for highlighted text.
- Inputs: pasted text, images, PDFs and CSV files, in bulk if you want.
- How events are added: an
.icsdownload, or Apple, Google, Outlook and Yahoo buttons, plus a share link, a QR code and a CSV export. - Reminders, guests, recurring: the reminder is a drop-down you set by hand, and the text "remind me 1 hour before" did not change it. It created a weekly Monday to Friday event but showed no end date, and it turned "all day" into a timed event.
- More than events: free ICS viewer, validator, editor and generator pages, an RRULE generator, and an event history.
- Price: a few free conversions without signing up, then paid. Its prices differed between its own pages and directory listings when we checked, so look at its pricing page before you decide.
Text to Calendar - AI Event Scheduler (Chrome)
A Chrome extension that creates events from text you select on a page.
- Website: Chrome Web Store, 425 users and a 4.8 rating from 19 ratings.
- Platforms: Chrome.
- Inputs: selected page text only.
- How events are added: through your Google or Outlook account. Before the first event it asks you to link the account and allow it to view and edit your calendar events.
- More than events: its listing says it finds time zones and meeting links.
- Worth knowing: it returned a server error on our test sentence, which may have been temporary.
Text2Event
An event creator that works on the web, on Android, in Chrome and Gmail and on iPhone, with reminders and guests read from the sentence, plus an MCP server for AI assistants.
- Website: text2event.com
- Platforms: the web, an Android app with a share sheet, a Chrome extension, a Gmail add-on for desktop, Android and iOS, and an iPhone and iPad Shortcut in the Share menu that needs no App Store app.
- Inputs: text for free. With Pro, a photo or screenshot, a PDF, a voice recording and several events in one request.
- How events are added: a pre-filled Google or Outlook page, an
.icsfile, or direct sync to Google Calendar with Pro, choosing which calendar. - Reminders, guests, recurring: "remind me 1 hour before" becomes a reminder in the calendar file (see smart calendar reminders); recurring events keep their "until" date, and all-day events are true all-day events. The free Google and Outlook buttons are links, so they lose reminders and repeats; use the file, or Pro's direct sync.
- More than events: attendee aliases (write "lunch with Alice" and Alice is invited), a default calendar setting, a Chrome extension with a side panel and a drag-to-capture screenshot area, and an MCP server for AI assistants.
- Price: free for 2 requests a day without an account and 4 a day with one. A new account gets a Pro trial of at least 14 days and 10 requests. Pro is $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year.
- Worth knowing: the Android app requires signing in. The Gmail add-on reads only the open email and does not ask for permission to write to your calendar.
Where the others are better
- Smart Calendars AI accepts more kinds of input (spreadsheets, Word files, forwarded email, chat messages and business cards), supports 80+ languages, has alerts and persistent alarms, and runs on Apple Watch. If you use only Apple devices and want one app for everything, it is the stronger product.
- Agenda Hero covers iOS, Android, Chrome and the web with one account, and its free plan includes 10 photo or PDF uploads. In Text2Event, photo, PDF and voice input need Pro after a free trial of at least 14 days and 10 requests. Agenda Hero's free text conversions are unlimited, while ours are limited to 2 requests a day without an account and 4 with one, and Pro is $1.99 a month against its $5.
- Text2Cal includes photo extraction in its free plan (five a month), where we ask for Pro.
- text-to-cal is cheaper for a Chrome-only user: $2.99 a year against $19.99 a year for Text2Event Pro.
- Text2Event's free Google Calendar button is a link too, so it loses reminders and repeats like the others. The file and Pro's direct sync keep them.
We could not test the iPhone apps or the Chrome extensions beyond what is described above, so a missing feature there may only mean it is not documented.

How the ranking works. Each of the seven columns scores 2 for green, 1 for amber and 0 for red, with equal weights. Grey cells (not stated or not tested) are left out, so a score is the points won divided by the points possible for the cells we could rate. The points are Text2Event 10 of 14, Smart Calendars AI 10 of 14, Text2Cal 6 of 10, Text-2-ICS 7 of 14, Agenda Hero 6 of 12, text-to-cal 5 of 14 and Text to Calendar 2 of 8. Text2Event and Smart Calendars AI tie, and Text2Event is listed first because we checked all of its cells ourselves, while Smart Calendars AI's come from its own site. The colours are our judgement of the tests above, so read the cells, not just the number.
Which one should you use?
- You use only Apple devices and want one app for everything: Smart Calendars AI. Agenda Hero is another all-rounder, and it also covers Android and Chrome.
- You use Android, or you switch between phone and computer: Text2Event.
- You read mail in Gmail: the Text2Event Gmail add-on, which also works in the Gmail mobile apps.
- You have an iPhone and do not want another app: the Text2Event Shortcut in the Share menu.
- You need reminders and guests from the sentence itself: Text2Event, or an app that lists them, such as Smart Calendars AI. Agenda Hero's site claims reminders and attendees, but our file from it had neither.
- You only copy event details from web pages in Chrome and do not need reminders: a cheap extension such as text-to-cal is enough.
- You want a file for any calendar: Text-2-ICS or the free Text2Event download.

Calendar Event Apps FAQs
- Q: What is the best app to create calendar events from text?
- A: There is no single winner; it depends on your phone and calendar. On iPhone, Smart Calendars AI is the broadest app, Agenda Hero covers iOS, Android, Chrome and the web, and Text2Cal is simpler. On Android, in the browser, in Gmail, or on an iPhone through a Shortcut, Text2Event covers text, and with Pro photos, PDFs and voice. If you only need a one-off event from selected text in Chrome, text-to-cal is the cheapest option.
- Q: Can an app create a calendar event from a photo or screenshot?
- A: Yes. Smart Calendars AI, Text2Cal, Agenda Hero, Text-2-ICS and Text2Event all read photos or screenshots of flyers, tickets and invitations. In Text2Event, photo input is part of the Pro plan; a new account can try it free for at least 14 days and at least 10 requests.
- Q: Can I create a calendar event by speaking?
- A: Yes. Text2Event turns a voice recording into an event on the web with Pro, while Smart Calendars AI and Agenda Hero list voice among their inputs on their own sites. Check each app's own page for how voice is handled before you rely on it.
- Q: What is the difference between a deeplink and a calendar API?
- A: A deeplink opens your calendar's "new event" page with the title, time and place already filled in, and you press Save. The link can only carry what the calendar's URL format allows, so a reminder or a guest that you typed in the text usually ends up in the description. A calendar API, with your permission, creates the event directly and can set reminders and guests.
- Q: Do these apps set reminders from what I type?
- A: Most do not. On 2026-11-06 we typed "remind me 1 hour before" into Text-2-ICS, text-to-cal and Agenda Hero. None set the reminder: the Agenda Hero file we downloaded has no alarm in it at all. Text2Event reads the reminder and the guest from the sentence and puts both into the calendar file it downloads. Its free "Add to Google Calendar" button is a link like theirs and says it will not set the reminder; syncing straight to Google Calendar with Pro does.
- Q: Do these apps support recurring and all-day events?
- A: Text2Event does both. On 2026-11-06 it read "every weekday at 10am until December 18" as a weekly Monday to Friday event ending Dec 18, and "all day" as a true all-day event. The free Google and Outlook buttons are links and lose the repeat, so use the downloaded file or Pro's direct sync for recurring events. Text-2-ICS also created a weekly Monday to Friday event, but showed no end date in our test, and it turned "all day" into a timed 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM event. Smart Calendars AI and text-to-cal say they support recurring events; we could not test the iPhone apps or the Chrome extensions.
- Q: Can I create a calendar event from an email in Gmail?
- A: Yes. The Text2Event Gmail add-on adds a "Create event from this email" button to Gmail on the desktop, Android and iOS apps. It reads only the email you have open and asks for no permission to write to your calendar; you open the event in Google Calendar, Outlook or as an
.icsfile. On an iPhone you can also use the Text2Event Shortcut from the Share menu. See the Gmail add-on guide and the iPhone Shortcut guide. - Q: Is there a free way to create calendar events from text?
- A: Yes, with limits. Text2Event allows 2 requests a day without an account and 4 a day with a free account, resetting at midnight UTC, and a new account also gets a trial of Pro, including photos, voice and PDFs, that lasts at least 14 days and at least 10 requests. Agenda Hero's free plan has unlimited text conversions and 10 photo or PDF uploads. Text2Cal gives five extractions a month on its free plan, and text-to-cal gives five events before it asks for payment.
